Pastoral

PRESENTATION

At the University Pastoral Service we offer some proposals to live a better Christian life and to enrich the dialogue between faith and culture, and to discover the Christian presence in many areas of our society.

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the University Pastoral Service!

I suppose you might have sometimes asked yourself: Where do we come from?, Where are we going?, What's the ultimate meaning of life?, Does God exist? and if he exists, What is this God like?, What relationship does he have with me?
The person of Jesus Christ, true God and true Man, gives us the key to providing the definitive answer to these questions that are so vital for human beings. Indeed, life does have meaning: God exists, he loves me and there is eternal life.
At the University Pastoral Service we want to help you give true meaning to your life and support you in your process. Don't hesitate to get in touch with us to talk or ask questions. We are at your service.

May God bless you!

THE UNIVERSITY CHAPEL AND THE PASTORAL OFFICE
  • THE CHAPEL / ORATORY is opposite the “Gestión Académica” (where enrolments take place). It is accessed through a large brown door and you can enter whenever you want. It is a place of silence but open to anyone who wants to pray.

  • THE PASTORAL OFFICE is opposite the chapel. You can come to consult the priest on any matter.

CHAPEL WORSHIP TIMES

  • LAUDS: Monday to Friday at 08:35. This is the Church's official morning prayer given in an attitude of praise and offering of the day.

  • MASS: Monday to Friday at 13:40. It is the most important prayer for Christians. These masses always include a homily.

  • HOLY HOUR: Every Thursday at 12:30. The Blessed Sacrament is displayed in the monstrance and adoration takes place for one hour.

BAPTISM, CONFIRMATION AND COMMUNION
  • If you are missing any of these sacraments, take advantage of this opportunity! We offer catechesis so that you can prepare yourself, and at the end of the course you will receive the sacraments you requested.

  • Catechumens (those who have asked to be baptized) are also supported in the catechumenate process, which takes place in Barcelona Cathedral.

  • The catechesis group for the 2023-2024 academic year starts in November and the sessions are on Tuesdays in room 1.16. If you are interested, please don't hesitate to come along or write to Mons. Alberto Sols: [email protected].

PRIESTS

We have three priests at the University who, apart from celebrating Mass on their corresponding day, are available for any questions you may have and also to administer the sacrament of confession. You can meet them in the office or you can contact them in advance.

PILGRIMAGES

We make two main pilgrimages during the academic year:

- The first is at the beginning of the academic year, normally over the El Pilar long weekend, and we go with the other CEU Universities in Spain. In recent years, for example, we have done various stages of the Camino de Santiago, and also the “Javierada”.
- The second one takes place after the January exams and many years we usually go to Lourdes, but we have also been to Toledo, Rome, etc. This pilgrimage, unlike the first, is not a walking pilgrimage.

You will get more information on the pilgrimages when we release specific information about each one.
