Why study at UAO CEU?

1. Forward-thinking perspective

This master’s programme offers an in-depth exploration of the dynamics underlying business, society and the environment. The solidarity economy is the point of convergence for associations, foundations, co-operativism, work placements for the disadvantaged, mutualism, ethical financing and fair trade; all of these are key instruments in achieving the sustainable development goals approved by the United Nations.

The goal of this master’s programme is to promote the concept of a socially responsible territory to develop new forms of social entrepreneurship, work placements for disadvantaged persons, social innovation projects, the creation of corporate social responsibility departments and to foster development cooperation programmes.

This official master's degree can boast 14 years of experience promoting the solidarity economy and corporate social responsibility (CSR), and is aimed at fostering efficiency in the field of cooperative societies, NGOs and the management of development cooperation programmes.

Students will have the possibility of studying the programme online, thanks to real-time connections to the classroom where the programme is taught, at the Faculty of Social Sciences at UAO CEU.

The Library Service is designed to support study and research with the primary objective of meeting students’ educational and scientific needs. It has ample opening hours, even on weekends, with the best computer facilities.

UAO CEU also offers a large digital repository containing open-access publications derived from the teaching, research and institutional activities by the university’s teaching staff, students and alumni.

The Chair of the Solidarity Economy enables students of this master's degree to take advantage of its fund for studies and specific publications in SSE, as well as offering them the chance to take part in the various cooperation and research projects it is a part of.

6. Chair of the Solidarity Economy

This master's degree is closely linked to the UAO's Chair of the Solidarity Economy (CES). The purpose of this body is the study, research and promotion of the solidarity economy as a model for economic development based on respect for people, social cohesion and environmental sustainability.

It currently carries out the following activities:

  • refresher and training courses for companies and social entities
  • seminars on immigration and society
  • annual seminar on the solidarity economy
  • Incorpora programme, for workplace intermediation
  • comprehensive care course for end-of-life patients
  • course in financial education
  • course titled “Educar la mirada”
  • recycling workshops for greener classrooms

Students of this master’s are considered full members of the chair and can participate in all the activities it organises.

PLACEMENTS

The Master's in Management and Communication in Social and Solidarity Entities has an obligatory module worth five ECTS credits in which students will go on placements at social and solidarity organisations. This can be done in social departments of public administration, social enterprises, CSR departments, foundations and both national and international associations.

These practical training programmes, which are a part of the course study plan, will give students the opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired during the course while learning new professional skills that will help them find work later on. The set of activities that the student will carry out during the programme will be agreed by the tutor at the company and the coordinator of the Placement and Employment Service of the Postgraduate Department who is responsible for the practicum.

The student will also have an academic tutor who will monitor and assess the internships in order to guarantee students make the most of their placement.

Tuition fees correspond, solely and exclusively, to the provision of teaching as part of the programme enrolled on, and this is the only service offered in exchange for the payment of those fees. By enrolling, the student accepts that decisions made by the competent authorities may, directly or indirectly, render it necessary to carry out teaching, tutoring, work placements or assessment tests either in person or via distance learning.

The student accepts that they remain obliged to pay any such fees in full even if, for reasons beyond the control of the University, some of the educational activities included in the degree cannot be carried out as initially provided for in the course guides at the beginning of the academic year. If restrictions are part in place, the University will provide the student with a guarantee that the activity will be rescheduled when possible, taking into consideration the interests of the student and any other applicable academic criteria.

One-time payment

A one-off payment entitles you to a discount of 3% of the tuition fees.

Payment by instalments

3 instalments per year.

Monthly payments

10 instalments with special 0% interest financing with CaixaBank. This also entitles students to a discount of 3% on tuition fees.

Other financing agreements

With Banco Santander, CaixaBank, BBVA and Banc Sabadell. This also entitles students to a discount of 3% on tuition fees.

Those applying to take the Official Master’s in Management and Communication in Social and Solidarity Entities must hold either a higher university degree title from Spain (diplomatura, licenciatura or ingeniería superior) or a foreign degree (equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in the Anglo-Saxon system).
