Why study at UAO CEU?

1. Forward-thinking perspective

This diploma aims to train top-level professionals in the field of international education. It is the first postgraduate course in Spain to offer a solid education in the philosophy and methodology of PYP, which is taught in international centres in Spain and around the world.
The Diploma of Specialization IB Certificate in Teaching and Learning is aimed at meeting the growing needs of education professionals looking to improve the quality of teaching and also to face the challenges currently facing the profession, such as the trans-disciplinary curriculum, the teaching of values, leadership skills and problem solving.
This postgraduate course covers all aspects of learning in the context of the Primary Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate (IB). It also offers the student useful and practical ideas for the proper implementation of the programme.

2. An emerging sector

More and more schools are choosing to include the Primary Years Programme because of the quality of the programme and the career opportunities it offers pupils.
The Diploma of Specialization IB Certificate in Teaching and Learningis aimed at covering the needs of an emerging sector with exceptional professional opportunities, such as international education. The programme is designed to facilitate access to employment for teaching professionals.

3. Competitive advantage in the jobs market

The Diploma of Specialization IB Certificate in Teaching and Learning will allow students to learn, deepen their knowledge and develop the experience they need to gain a competitive advantage in the global jobs market.

4. Methodology

The working methodology is based on the methodology used in IB centres. As such, it is largely based on a spirit of questioning, observation and reflection. Each of the blocks has a series of practical projects that help the student to gain a deeper understanding of the subject. At the end of the four compulsory blocks, students take a working placement at an international centre followed by a dissertation.

5. Why study this programme?

In recent years, the number of international schools has increased, with more than 5,000 schools worldwide. Spain leads Europe, with 366 international schools and nearly 133,000 students, but it is expected that over the next 10 years, this figure will reach 16,000 schools. This increase is in part due to the increasing demand for quality education and the academic and employment possibilities offered by such programmes, as well as an interest in languages.
Most schools that teach this methodology only hire professionals with previous experience teaching the Primary Years Programme. This is why having solid training in the field of international education has become an indispensable element for those professionals who want to work in IB centres both nationally and internationally.

6. Professional development

Students studying the postgraduate course in the Primary Years Programme will be able to undertake work experience at international centres both in Spain and abroad. After completing the postgraduate course, students will be able to work in the most exclusive international centres.
